Seeing a lot of people going “LOL @ODELL told you so ! We told you so ! Rugged!” after Wallet of Satoshi announced they’re withdrawing from the US, allegedly from regulatory risks due to their non willingness to enforce whatever KYC BS the US has asked/will ask them.
First, please show me someone who lost funds using WOS before talking about rugs.
Second, if you think the problem is with WOS withdrawing from “The Land of the Free 🇺🇸”, rather than said “Land of the Free 🇺🇸” having become more and more like the autocratic regimes it used to fight against, and slipping away from the spirit of the US constitution, I invite you to check your privilege, and then try to leave the US with all your capital.
Third and last point, whatever you think about Wallet Of Satoshi, it was just one (greatest) option for a LN wallet. It’s beyond me how you can think it’s a win to remove optionality from users.
I’ve onboarded a lot of people to Bitcoin by just buying them a beer through WoS, which led to many to discover the Bitcoin rabbit hole over the next weeks and months, and then they ended up with self custodying their cold stack.
Now I dread trying to offer an orange pilled beer, when first I’ll have to warn people that there’s a 10k setup fee, some channels opening fees, that there might be force closures… in a high and rising fee environment.
Don’t lose the plot. Be objective. Don’t fight the wrong battles.
And good morning.

Stay humble and study #Bitcoin.
Good morning,
I've just spent 20 minutes reviewing my ~250 Twitter followers.
Out of the 100 that I blocked, half were impersonators, other half were random e-girls.
And many were verified.
I'm a random anon that has no value, yet still 40% of my twitter followers were basically botnets looking to scam people, so I can only guess it's worse for highly visible accounts.
On top of that, crypto and nft scams are making up to 80% of my ads.
I'm very happy Elon disclosed some of the Twitter Files (the reporters with access to the files got fed whatever Elon & lawyers handpicked, though.), and that there is less speech suppression on Twitter (even though speech is still highly manipulated through the "For You" feed + opaque payouts to influencers), but unless you pay/KYC, it's now a "read-only" medium.
I can't wait to stop using this "social network" as soon as enough people I care to read from will have made the switch to nostr as their main "free speech" outlet.
To make that happen, I believe we need to spend more time advertising and onboarding people there.
As nice perk, once much more non-bitcoin people will have made the switch, nsec management good practices would partly translate into private keys management good practices... after some of these people inevitably fall down the #Bitcoin rabbit hole.
Congratulations to Javier Milei for winning the Argentinian elections !
I usually have zero expectations from politicians to bring any significant quality of life improvement to their people, but I've been
proven wrong with Nayib Bukele once, and I would love to be proven wrong again.
Best nostr web client ?
Primal was my go-to but it has some kind of memory leak and it kills the performance over time, so I’m looking forward to try some other options.
“Just close the fucking door.”
