I have directed the Functionary Federation to suspend temporarily the peg-out convertibility of Liquid Bitcoin into mainnet UTXOs or other base-layer assets, except in amounts and multi-sig conditions determined to be in the interest of federated stability and in the best interests of the Liquid Network. Now, let me lay to rest the bugaboo of what is called an unbacked sidechain. If you want to bridge back to the base layer or verify a sovereign transaction abroad, network conditions may cause your L-BTC to settle slightly never. But if you are among the overwhelming majority of HODLers who keep their tokens strictly within confidential sidechain wrappers, your peg will be worth just as much tomorrow as it is today. image
This morning, I couldn't help but realize how much Bitcoin mining dynamics have shifted. Historically, miners had to sell their mined coins immediately just to cover power and operational expenses. Today, rig owners are increasingly paid upfront for their hashrate. Some might think hash buyers are doing this to dump on the market, but that's not what's happening here—these are high-conviction, long-term holders who genuinely believe in what they're doing. The key point is that miners get their expenses covered up front, and the buyers aren't selling a single sat. We're dealing with an entirely different dynamic than past cycles.
Crypto and Bitcoin belong in the same sentence. Deal with it.
The only people I hear complaining about a chain split are Bitcoin Core. You can keep your shitcoin chain along with all your other Bitcoin affinity scams. If we have to start from scratch, so be it. I’ll be mining on Bitcoin Knots, buying hash rate, stacking more Bitcoin, keeping it in self-custody, and HODL’ing-all the good stuff we preach in this echo chamber. You say there won't be enough hash rate for us to survive the split, but the way I see it, that just creates an incentive to mine the real Bitcoin with fewer resources. Don’t forget how we got here: the plebs. All Bitcoin needs is a group of like-minded people who want a better future. @buzzbot 10000
Running a node is essential for participating in network consensus. While some clients choose your consensus rules for you, others give you full control. I personally choose Bitcoin Knots and am signaling for BIP110. Anyone claiming BIP110 doesn't have consensus is mistaken. It does, and those who disagree will end up on the wrong side of the chain. @buzzbot 10000
They make all the edits and then accuse us of messing with things, when we're just trying to restore it to how it was before.
If you have bitcoin on an exchange or in an ETF. Might want to consider figuring out how to get that bitcoin into cold storage. You don’t want to be forced onto bitcoin core.
