Either this is picking up some steam lately or Nostr has a secret algo lol. BTW, you can edit your Nostr profile in Bloom as of last night and we now let you optimize images on upload or flip the option in settings and convert images to webP by default. Animated GIF support soon. View quoted note โ†’

Added some upload preferences to Bloom and cleaned up the upload UI and workflow a bit. When uploading files, there's a new settings button where you can change per file preferences (encrypt, image upload options, etc). If will default to whatever you have in settings which for now includes what's in the screenshot below. webp conversion is off by default. The screenshot below was converted on the fly to webp so yay, it works lol. I am thinking about the best way to do animated gif conversion as well since it's not as simple a conversion, but considering the large number of multi MB pfp's on Nostr, it would be worthwhile. I am also considering adding video compression as well, though probably not smart to do it as a default option. I will probably surface it as an option for video uploads since it would add a large memory overhead on the client side and would probably just not work on mobile devices. More soon. image

With NYM and possibly Amethyst removing NIP-04 DMs, flags are being planted. Time for every other client to do the same. Unfortunately, the most "user friendly" client around relies on a caching service which does not read the required kind events to support NIP-17 DMs so this will be interesting. No one cares I know...carry on ๐Ÿค“๐Ÿค“๐Ÿค“

Introducing Signet, a fork and partial rewrite of nsecbunkerd with a simple graphical user interface to make managing your keys and signing requests easy. Github repo link is: nsecbunkerd is amazing, but has not been updated in about a year so I started work on updating it. I quickly realized it wasn't very user friendly for the average user so I've added a config UI so anyone can use it. There's still a ton of work to do on implementing token policies, fine grained editing of permissions, polishing the UI, etc, but it works, it's fully local, and you don't need to be a dev to set up or use it. image Please submit bug reports and PRs on the Github repo. Thanks!
