Sleeping in a campervan is fun. Today's experience was weird. I'm at a conference, slept in a parking lot. Woke up, went inside and there was everyone, while my kernel was still booting.

If at this point you don't have a Bitcoin (preferably lightning) wallet with some money for spending, you are either lazy or stupid, probably both. I've heard many sob stories of people saying they'll get to it later, but it's too complicated. No it's not, it has never been easier. Use the internet, meet some people and get to it. Porn stars, single moms and grandmas routinely use Bitcoin. If you can use venmo or PayPal or whatever system you use for fiat, Bitcoin is the same but easier. Another case is of course the Nocoiner syndrome (see https://cryptoanarchy.institute/ for the diagnostic and treatment manual). Everyone knows that Bitcoin is the future. Some of us knows it's also the present. Fiat system is dying. And you're lazy? Didn't have time to get to it? It's too complicated? Pathetic. Sorry to say that, but that's just it.

I am often genuinely amazed by people who can think they can make the government better. I like their positive energy. I can't force myself doing it though. I've wasted years in talking to bureaucrats about Linux, open source, open standards, security, ... I've seen people want to change the system from the inside by forming political parties, in order to either have no impact at all, or worse - becoming the establishment, in many cases doing exactly the same thing they've been against. My stance is cynical, but practical. The state is there, like a bad weather. And my goal is to manage my exposure and risk. You don't change the weather, you change what you where, if you have shelter, or what climate you are in. Global warming? Turn on the AC (helps to make your own energy too). Hardcore winters? Change the hemisphere for the winter time. Raining? Get a raincoat. Now I look at people who spend time, endless meetings and good intentions as people who are trying to control weather. Yes, they can spend insane amounts of energy for short term weather management. But it won't change how it works. Manage the risk of state, don't try to manage the state. Central planning does not work even when done with good intentions. Maybe especially when done with good intentions.

Playing with Home Assistant with AI nad Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition. Successfully taught it how to answer questions about weather, control a few smart home devices. Currently using it with Venice - I contribute to the integration a bit, I have two pull requests open, and with ollama as well. Both work, Venice is faster (but inference in the cloud, vs. ollama works without internet and no surveillance). Speech to tech, Text to Speech and Ollama run on mac mini, HA itself is on Linux. SimpleX integration is through their web socket API. Is anyone interested in this? Should I put the integration in HACS and/or write about it? Wow, this is the coolest feeling. I have made a small contribution to Home Assistant's Venice plugin. It got merged and now I logged in a few days later and this release has my name in it in prompt for update 😉 I'm already running this, but I'll upgrade anyway 😉 FOSS is amazing. Be a developer.
