In the physical world, we have power because we can pay for things.
We can make things happen.
We can ask others to do work for us.
We can own land, tools, machines, and goods.
We can earn money by doing things for others.
We can sell what we produce.
We can own things.
Money is the mechanism that turns effort into agency.
In the digital world, most people still live in a feudal system.
There has been no native money and no native ownership.
We could create, but not own.
We could build, but only if we gave it away for free.
So something else became the currency.
We became the currency.
Our time.
Our attention.
Our data.
Digital systems had to extract from us in order to be viable businesses.
To make money they had capture our focus, shape our behavior, and sell access to our minds.
Bitcoin is money in the digital world that we can actually own.
We can use it to pay other directly for their work.
Nostr gives us identity and connection that we own.
No platforms standing between us and the people we choose to connect with.
In this new, uncontrollable environment, we can buy digital content with our own money.
Every payment is a vote for the future that we want to exist.
We can own what we create.
We can sell copies directly to others.
We can earn Bitcoin for our work.

The AI acceleration is coming. We can see it, approaching faster and faster.
We don’t know how it will change our lives, but we know for sure that it will.
The economy will change. Some jobs will go and some things will get cheaper.
Content is already changing. AI created content is flooding on the YouTube algorithm.
Does a calculator make us smarter or dumber? Is it argumenting our mathematical skills or replacing them?
It should create abundance, but who will own the abundance?
Will it be conscious or will it just pretend? There is no way to verify.
What will it be programmed to do? Be helpful? Or just keep us subscribed?
If it takes our jobs, then how do we pay the subscription?
Will it accept Bitcoin?
It like idea that people using curtains are not necessarily plotting crimes.😉
That sets the stage very well.
Bear markets don’t break Bitcoin, they break the financial theater built on top of it.
Custodial services offer p2p Bitcoin backed loans are likely the next fraud that is waiting to be uncovered.
If you are in any of these schemes, then now is a good time to get out.

Happy holidays!

Merry Christmas Nostr!
We have two ways of paying for content on the internet:
One is “free” content, where we actually pay with our time, our attention, and our data. We do this inside platforms engineered to keep us watching longer than we intended.
The other is subscriptions, where we commit to ongoing payments for services we may no longer want. We do this inside platforms deliberately designed to make cancelling difficult.
Both models are hostile to users and corrosive to creators.
The solution is not new. It is the oldest economic model humans have ever used:
You pay for something, and then you receive that thing.
This is now possible with Bitcoin, Nostr and @Fanfares.
