If you're looking for a great resource to help onboard merchants to Bitcoin, check out bitcoin.rocks/business/kit They've done a great job making the case for why Bitcoin is good for business. They've also put together a great brochure you can print at home (or they'll send you a few for free). I've taken them to some local farmer's markets and have been surprised at how open-minded many merchants are to the idea. Feeling very bullish after making the rounds at my local Farmer’s market today talking to various merchants about how Bitcoin is good for business. Everyone we talked to was open to the idea of accepting Bitcoin as payment and a few had actually already looked into it! I’ve read many Bitcoin books over the years and am still pleasantly surprised to learn new things from beginner level introductory books. While reading “Intro to Bitcoin” by Erin Malone I learned what a peaker plant was, how costly they are to taxpayers and how terrible they are for the environment. Bitcoin mining incentivizes new investments in cheap, renewable energy sources that can greatly reduce & eventually eliminate the need for these peaker plants.

I found this little library in Springfield, Virginia near Lake Accotink Park. It must have been a popular one as it was jam packed with books. I hope someone picks up this copy of Decrypting Money and learns a thing or two about the best money humans have ever discovered.

The wind was just windy enough to send my kite into the sky this evening. I spent about a couple of hours on the National Mall, moving around to find the windiest spot. Just after the sun set, a guy visiting DC from Toronto for the first time walked up to me with his sister and asked to fly my kite. I was happy to oblige and I asked if he’d heard of #Bitcoin. I was surprised to hear he had learned of it in a finance class but it was clear he had only scratched the surface. We chatted for a few minutes as the wind died down and the kite descended into a gentle nosedive. I asked if he read books & then gave him a copy of Decrypting Money I brought with me. It was an absolute pleasure welcoming Dr. Anthony Jefferies to Washington, D.C. to meet with the local bitcoiners of Bitcoin District. We talked about the Nashville conference & spent some time getting to know Anthony & learn a little about his Bitcoin journey. He co-authored an excellent book called “Decrypting Money, A Comprehensive Introduction to Bitcoin” that I can’t recommend enough for any newbies out there. The thing I like most about this book is how it is structured (history of money, history of Bitcoin & how Bitcoin works) and how concisely the information is presented. You’ll learn just enough to understand why we need Bitcoin without getting overwhelmed with technical concepts. Thank you for taking the time to write this book and for sending me copies to give away. We look forward to seeing you in the District again in the future.

I brought a stack of books with me to #Bitcoin2024 📙🧡📙 I keep getting really nice & talkative Lyft drivers who are super receptive to talking about Bitcoin. This morning I gave away a copy of Erin Malone’s book ‘Intro to Bitcoin’ to a cool guy who has kids that have been trying to convince him to get into Bitcoin, but he’s (rightly) skeptical. I keep getting the best Lyft drivers in #Nashville! Yesterday the lovely woman who dropped me downtown spoke of her recent switch to a new position at work and how her 18yr old kid just got a scholarship and plays basketball. When I mentioned I was here for the #Bitcoin2024 conference she told me how she wasn’t an expert but she had been slowly accumulating it and gold over the years. She understood that you shouldn’t hold onto money that others can create for free. It warmed my heart 🧡 I gave her a copy of Decrypting Money and she was very happy to take it. I think it was a good book choice because she already understands the ‘why’ we need Bitcoin, but needed to learn more about how it works. #BitcoinBookDrop (lost count, #60-something)
