Page rank is not WoT, and neither of these are Sovereign WoT. What I described in OP has not existed before now. I would all but guarantee that some version of “trust scoring based on weighted user interactions” is in use by black box walled gardens. But we can not know for sure, and it is certainly not user controlled. What is suboptimal? Sounds like you don’t understand what we’ve already built in GrapeRank, and the potential it has to redefine WoT, and how this could not have happened before Nostr. Let me explain. GrapeRank over Nostr is a model for Sovereign Webs of Trust. It establishes a means for any client or relay or DVM (or any cloud service) to provide relative trust scores based on ANY user interactions (follows, zaps, likes, mutes, ect…). It not only allows for the scoring algo to be configured and shared by end users, but also is itself a modular library, supporting the growth of a free market of algo providers. Sovereignty comes when users maintain control, having the freedom to choose their own algos for their own needs, amongst a wide variety of useful choices. Only Nostr provides the sovereignty respecting environment for this to even be possible, and GrapeRank makes it possible. The power to “out perform central gatekeeping” simply comes as a factor of users having the control to share and implement their own up to date and effective algo configurations. But you are also correct, @semisol. There are no regulations preventing [Sovereign] WoT from being globally adopted. The special interests and regulatory capture come to play in protecting the established big socials and the “way things are done” when central power maintains control. Sovereign WoT is a better solution for keeping the internet safe, but it requires the power holders to release control to the end users. Nostr will help make this happen. View quoted note →

Sovereign “webs of trust” (weighted scores based on user configurable and sharable analyses of p2p interactions) user verification will always outperform centralized gate keeping … especially under state mandate to “protect our children”, where every other solution is hamstrung out of the gate by special interests and regulatory capture. Phishing and social engineering attacks simply disappear when your only input comes from established trust networks. image

Many of us see as Nostr as the protocol that will disrupt the social internet. We pour our hearts into “Nostr only” projects, establishing the new paradigm in raw uncompromised, open source, and often unpaid code. Bless our freedom loving hearts. 💕 This is the way … to lay a solid foundation of best practices. But “nostr only” projects are not the way to change hearts and minds. Users and app developers need to transition on their own time and in their own way. Nostr needs more transitionary tools. We are at an inflection point. The wave of “Nostr only” adoption is trailing off. We have established our base of deep dedication for the protocol itself. Now is the time to spread out, to widen our perspective of “what is a Nostr app?”, to read the market of existing apps and ask “how does Nostr fit in?” rather than “how does Nostr replace?”. We will assimilate. We are the base. Nostr is here to stay. There is great incentive for apps and users to make this transition. We just need to reach out to help them do it on their own … and even get paid for our effort. Group up into teams of all skill sets. Talk to actual profitable businesses about Nostr. Help them to build better apps by integrating with freedom technology. Deeper integration happens over time. Everybody wins.

For live music and shows… The question isn’t : “Will virtual and in person event experiences be blended together for all attendees?”. Of course they will. The relevant question is : “Will your venue’s app take advantage of Nostr as the free and open social layer to power these experiences for your customers … or will you sit back and let Facebook dominate the space and reap all of the rewards.” There has never been an opportunity like this until Nostr. @tunestr

“Let’s talk about the why and how of deeper Nostr integration for [b2b_client_app]. ‘Nostr only’ is just a red herring, but Nostr itself does provide real business value for independent apps. I’ll be available all [day/week] for a 15 minute demo.”
