Making very experimental music on the iPad in conjunction with the Oxi One my main sequencer hardware device. Using three sequencers for this sketch, Stochastic, Matriceal and Multitrack. So the first two are for two pianos playing at the same time, with one piano being heavily processed taking some ideas from the likes of Nils Frahm. Favourite scale at the moment is Phrygian, I can’t get enough of the thing! I recorded this from sequences I programmed on the Oxi, then did some further editing in Logic and mastered using the same app. I will push this one up to Wavlake soon. The end result is a very organic live feel which I am really pleased with. image

Three C’s of the day… Capitalism. Convenience. Cunts. Blame my wife for this one, made us giggle. We were talking about the price of groceries in motorway services versus middle of town shops.

Hospital appointment done and dusted. Not quite as good on the blood results compared to last time. My EGFR levels have dropped, not significantly but enough to make us question whether it’s a blip in the tests (which does happen) or a genuine indication of deterioration. Normally he’d ask me to go back and see him in three months, this time he has suggested just two. On the flip side my blood pressure was excellent and having battled with that for years, we have got it to stabilize. One possibility is that I’ve been drinking less water and hydration can mess results up. So we are being optimistic for now.

It’s my quarterly nephrology checkup today and about 17-18 years into my kidney transplant. It’s had its ups and downs, mostly ups and then recently a scare but that was a year ago and things have been fine since. Hoping today’s results are good too.

That was an odd call, not sure whether it was scam or genuine. Sharing here in case other people have experienced a similar thing. I had a call from an unknown number which I would normally ignore but I’ve been expecting a call from my doctor and annoyingly they often show up as Caller ID Unknown, so I picked it up. The guy on the other end of the line was a British guy, same as me claiming (I distrust people automatically) to be from the MEXC crypto exchange and wanted to inform me that a suspicious login attempt to reset my password from Miami had been detected. We discussed a bit further, he asked me if I use any other exchanges for my crypto activities and when I’d last used them. He sounded kind of genuine, probably was but my suspicious mind was telling me, give him no information at all if he asks for it. He kept saying this is a genuine call, we take security compromises very seriously. Then we got cut off. Odd.

I’m liking this kind of rain! Especially that opening track. Apart from the joy of hearing your own music featured of course, there are some great tracks in episode 30. I’m planning to move my own podcast officially soon to RSS Blue where I talk about producing my music on the iPad, Ableton and Bitwig. View quoted note →

Visited the Greenham Common Cafe yesterday and what a fascinating place it was! Lovely coffee, cake and cream teas. Then we popped upstairs into the control tower, with a stunning view of the common. Thirty years ago, this was an airbase, with a runway and a number of bunkers containing nukes! What a contrast!
