Fairly productive day at work today. Spent most of the day writing Python code to automate the generation of the router configurations required for some complex network migrations. Previously it took a long time to manually determine the require changes. Now I can just feed in a list of services to move and scripts generate the required config. Much more efficient and less prone to errors.

Another experiment with film photography. This Ricoh XR-1 originally belonged to my uncle. I've had it for a while but never used it until I decided to put a roll of film in it a couple of weeks ago. I don't know exactly how old this one is (the model was originally released in 1977) but it hadn't been used for at least 15 years. I had no idea if it was going to still work but gave it a good clean, put some new batteries in it at which point the light meter started working (it is fully manual operation apart with the batteries only used for the light meter). While the photos I took with it maybe aren't particularly exciting, it did prove that the camera works. The only thing I found didn’t work is the counter so it was hard to track how many photos I had taken. The film was Fujifilm C200.

NBN have set up a page for updates on disruptions to NBN services caused by Cyclone Alfred. I would expect that there will be local disruptions due to power outages and infrastructure damage when the cyclone hits, but hopefully no major damage to the NBN POIs causing more widespread outages. #AUStriches

Wild kangaroo and organic grass-fed beef brisket. These taste pretty good for a snack.

Crazy weather here in Australia at the moment. We have a tropical cyclone predicted to bring heavy rains and flooding to parts of Queensland and New South Wales in the north of the country, yet here in South Australia we have had the driest summer in 33 years with some areas outside of the city running out of water.
