Currently reading. It's interesting to note that there are essentially two overall cypherpunk paradigms: "crypto anarchy" and "crypto justice". The former was promoted by Timothy May and the latter promoted by Julian Assange. image

Oh I guess I didn't share my experience at the Bitcoin MENA conference. All I have to say is that it sucked, like really bad. They had panels dedicated to treasury companies, strategic reserves, influencers (yuck), and stablecoins. Oh and Michael Saylor of course. It was just so boring and tiring and gay. I mean there were a few interesting ones, but nothing I needed to see in person. I think there was one panel dedicated to something loosely related to bitcoin development. Besides meeting Muslims (which was really the main motivation for going), I had a great time chatting with The Bitcoin Way folks. They help newbies with custody, utxo management, node set up, and even privacy, and I was surprised to learn that they even help users get on Linux and graphene OS. I really love their vibe and what they do, I might do an affiliate program with @BitcoinMajlis with them. It's hard for me to get excited to go to another big bitcoin conference after this, but I'll probably get sucked into going again.

Interesting, and predictable, to see governments everywhere sprinting toward mandatory ID checks for age verification just for people to do anything online We're watching the internet get fenced in platform by platform. I suspect this crackdown will end up accelerating Nostr adoption inshaAllah. Get ready for the next wave!

Trying to revive the Bedouin archetype in cyberspace means rebuilding nomadic opacity inside an environment designed for total algorithmic legibility and surveillance. A lot harder than reviving Bedouin culture in the physical.

Finally got around to watching Frieren (the wife has been bothering me about it for months!) and the soundtrack is out of this world. Amazing anime so far. image

The phenomenon of devs (not just in Bitcoin) being so economically illiterate, like at a comically infantile level, needs to be studied. They work with logic all the time, but it's like their brain suddenly short circuits when it's applied to human action. Very strange. View quoted note →

"Though I believe that the essence of Muslims all around the world is that rebellious nature against norms once you see truth." Our job when orange pilling is to take that instinct, that old Bedouin refusal to bow to anything but God, and wake it back up. The trick is getting people to see that the same nomadic spirit that crossed deserts now has to migrate into cyberspace, which comes with its own harsh terrain and logic. View quoted note →
