just updated #opnsense from 23.7.12 to 24.1 without problems. of course I did backup config before that, then did make #zfs #snapshot using bectl. just to be sure, I downloaded the install image and reminded myself how to reinstall it and import the config from the backup. #homelab #network #router

I just found this article 👇 [1] which reinforced what I was getting at. In the summer I started as an IT administrator at a small school where an omada network had already been built. I needed to change the VLANs and set up new rules between them. I didn't realize that switch ACLs are not stateful and assumed that the "omada controller" would set rules not only on the siwtch but also on the router. But it didn't. It took a long time before the network started working again.
