when you try to fix a problem by focusing on the problem, you are using a safety strategy that makes you feel more in control it only gives short term relief because it feels like you’re doing something about it but perpetuates the anxiety long term & rarely solves it Here’s what you can do instead 👇🏼 1. Acknowledge there’s something you’re unhappy with and you want a different experience 2. Decide it’s changing as you speak & think about it (no doubt in mind) 3. Instead of focusing on “how do I fix this” - “I need to fix this now” which ends up driving you into actions where you’ll try to get rid of the anxiety of the thing potentially not changing or remaining the same …. focus on “what do I want to create instead?” 🧐 What do you WANT? Can you be CURIOUS about a different reality instead of trying to CONTROL it to become something different? Good morning #nostr Being physically healthy is one thing but to also care for your inner mental landscape is crucial. In #quantumbiology they even speak of your thoughts affecting the water molecules structure in your fascia (and everything else obviously) And your mental health is very much dictated by your ability to be emotionally healthy which has a synergistic relationship with your nervous system, your hormones, your circadian rhythm and gut health. I remember being 12 and my mom telling me I needed to start using products to cleanse my face because “I don’t want to get pimples right?!” (ended up getting acne…) I just thought maybe i wasn’t doing enough and I needed entire skin care routine but everything about it felt so unnatural. But I probably should just keep doing it because everyone else is… It cost SO much money, so much TIME and energy and i kept thinking … for what? The hopes I’ll have less wrinkles and a more desirable skin? As though that’s all I’m worth? I remember thinking: wth did our ancestors do because no way in hell was it ever close to this My experience is - the simpler the better. And most of the time simple, WILL BE HARD. Focus is HARD. Less is HARD. And it’s hard to do in our modern world where everything is about consume, do more, be more. More more more And it SUCKS the life out of us. Truly is such a waste of vitality. Doing all the things does NOT give you vitality. Every symptom we have and response we have is PRRFECT according to our environment. Our bodies are SOOOO intelligent. It always has your back even if and when it feels like it’s fighting you. Heres how I place boundaries to protect my energy while still having thriving relationships 🫶🏼 Being raised in an enmeshed family, I was taught that boundaries meant = disconnection & loss of relationships and that was the core issue. Loss of tribe / family is also the most threatening thing to your system when you’re young so you can imagine I had no boundaries. Having parameters, a container, something to HOLD the relationship- is essential. Not a question. And if it threatens your relationships, then you either need to see it was never healthy in the first place & its time to get clear on your needs and KNOW that they are important. Some ways I place boundaries : 1. I don’t pickup the phone right away when someone calls / texts me. I check in with myself - am I available for this right now ? (Mentally, emotionally and physically) my energy is mainly for my daughter and partner - anything else is secondary. 2. If something is costing me my peace, then it’s too expensive. I am honest and clear “I dont have bandwidth for this right now - thanks for understanding” it doesn’t leave space for questions or openness. “This is what I need and there’s no debate” 3. I schedule time for calls and catch ups with friends and family instead of just having it on a whim. It sets a framework, a time, intention and more presence for the calls. Im still learning boundaries with myself for my own life and work flows. I’ll be sharing more of what I learn so follow & save and tell me what you need support with when it comes to boundaries. My little bear woke up at 430 am this morning - she went to bed at 6PM. Old version of me would’ve been PISSED. New version of me went “ let’s rest for 30 mins then let’s make the most of it with a sunrise walk on the beach” I’ve found that the uncommon “annoying” things we tend to normalize as parents actually hold many gifts for us (like an empty beach) but I wouldn’t be able to get there if I didn’t simply accept the situation and lean into making the most of it 💛 #consciousparenting #motherhood #newmama image
