Exactly. Years ago my band was asked to provide music for a new cable TV show that eventually became somewhat popular. They wanted us to compromise on a few issues including publishing, so they could make additional money off our music when it was used in the show. (Very shady, but legal). We declined and they ended up using a different band that I guess was willing to compromise. These are the kinds of micro decisions that are made every day in the art/culture world which add up to creating a homogenized corporate culture of mediocrity. View quoted note →

The shitbags in charge cancelled everything cool. That’s why music today sucks. Movies suck. Tv sucks. Everything cool was with cancelled or commoditized. Everyone’s a brand now. Boring ass corporate hell. There’s nothing wild. Nothing dangerous. Nothing cool. There’s no Johnny Rotten. There’s no Ozzie Osborne. There’s no Kurt Cobain. Just a bunch of boring ass brands.
