In happier news my 19 year old son who still lives at home while attending college painted a shed that had been languishing in a remote corner of the property and built a partial pergola. He set up a lathe and is now making things to sell at a local maker’s market and listening to classical music while doing it. He will be accepting bitcoin. I’m impressed!

Is it normal for your aging parents to act very out of character? Both of them were solid as rocks growing up and now I’m dealing with the craziest shit. I could have never imagined I would have to deal with. It’s like I have two impulsive teenagers on my hands. INSANE things from both of them. I’m tempted to air it out here to get advice because I’m having trouble navigating this.

I’m reminded of my Uncle Paul today. He was a design engineer and would work on big projects in Los Angeles for NASA and Kawasaki and then retreat to his cabin in Idaho alone for months on end. He died several years ago. I wear one of his gold rings and think of the influence he had on me and would give anything to have just one more conversation with him.
