If you’re not happy all the time, do you feel like you have a problem? No matter how much you achieve, does it feel like it’s never quite enough? This is totally normal. There’s nothing inherently wrong with the pursuit of happiness, but it’s critical to understand that even in the best case scenario, happiness is fleeting. It’s not something we ever get to keep. We’re conditioned to think that if we don’t feel happy, we’re failing at life. The traditional approach to addressing unhappiness is flawed, however, as it assumes we’re meant to live in some perfect state of perpetual bliss. But that doesn’t jive with biology or reality. The truth is that our mammalian brains are wired for survival, not to feel happy all the time. Feelings of happiness and achievement are short-lived, and it’s meant to be that way. But by harnessing proven principles of brain science and evolutionary biology, you can use dissatisfaction, pain and discomfort to propel you to your next epic success. Today we’re back with our friend, Loretta Breuning, PhD, author, Professor Emerita of Management at California State University, East Bay, and Founder of the Inner Mammal Institute. In this episode, you’ll discover: Why our brain's happy chemicals are only released in short spurts, and quickly habituate to rewards How to untangle your emotional wiring by tracking down patterns from childhood Why our natural "herd impulse" can lead to groupthink and the suppression of individuality (and how to counteract it) Simple strategies to manage anxiety and fear How to spark small joys and harness dopamine triggers in the brain’s reward system to create meaning and purpose in your life And much more… #health #psychology #spirituality #gm #brain #science #growstr #education #video image Watch here on Fountain: https://fountain.fm/episode/LtuBcWuDnfzRPmx6L6E8https://fountain.fm/episode/R5QKG28lbaWD5Hwy4hpc

Happy National Cheesecake Day #nostriches! Ok, some "holidays" may be a bit of a stretch, but it’s hard not to indulge when there's an excuse to nom on cheesecake. Made it back to Austin after an inspiring trip to #Nashville meeting up with folks at the forefront of new technology in music, media and podcasting. And I’m thrilled Alyson whipped up such a tasty cheesecake creation, as there’s much to celebrate. So don't waste cheesecake day on one of those store-bought monstrosities packed with high fructose corn syrup, wheat flour, artificial flavors, emulsifiers, industrial oils, GMOs and other grim nonsense. Instead, enjoy a slice of this homemade cheesecake, made with real food and free of added chemicals. Top it off with fresh strawberries or blueberries to delight your tastebuds. #foodstr #grainfree #glutenfree #cheesecake #keto #primal #wilddiet #gm #grownostr #health #recipe #weedstr #420 #dessert Here's the recipe, hope you enjoy: image

What an epic weekend in Nashville. The energy, excitement, and innovation of this community reminds me of the early days of the internet in the best way possible. Bands of Bitcoin and the @Wavlake and @tunestr concerts were absolute highlights of the weekend. Incredible to meet and hang with so many of the insanely talented OG musicians in this space - @Joe Martin 🎶🟠⚡ @Ainsley Costello @npub1a377...5r4w @THE HIGHER LOW @Sara Jade @Alicia Stockman 🎤 , Martin, Andy, and many others - you all rock! Perhaps what surprised and impressed me most about these musicians and builders was the lack of ego, creating a spirit of collaboration over competition. This meeting of the minds might just change the trajectory of how we create and share music for years to come. Leveraging technology to exchange value is a heck of a lot more fun and interesting than being exploited by centralized platforms in an algorithmic race to the bottom. I started dipping my toes into Nostr and uploading tunes on Wavlake just a few short weeks ago, with little understanding and no expectations. Now it’s clear that the paradigm is shifting rapidly, and incumbent platforms like Spotify could be rendered obsolete thanks to this motley crew of early adopters, artists, and builders. Shout out to JL for inviting me up on stage for a spontaneous songwriting session. Jaw-dropping to see what you and your band came up with on the spot! Jim and Julie, thank you for creating such an epic event, sharing my tunes on your podcast, and for inviting me to fill-in as guest MC for #bandsofbitcoin. I was totally starstruck when the one-and-only podfather @Adam Curry and @npub1pvdw...9r3u (accidentally) shared my cameo as guest MC from Bands of Bitcoin on the Podcasting 2.0 show! Big props to Sam and Michael at Wavlake, Nick and Oscar at @Fountain, @OpenMike from Tunestr, Jim and Julie Costello from @PhantomPowerMedia, and everyone else who made this incredible weekend happen. Thank you all for the warm welcome to the valueverse and for changing the game. Let’s all make some music in Austin soon! #v4v #valueverse #podcasting2 #grownostr #bandsofbitcoin #tunestr #bitcoinmusic #btc #music #musicstr #bitcoinconference #web3 #nashville

Are we blaming red meat and butter for the problems vegetable oil caused? Contrary to popular belief, there is no correlation between either saturated fat or animal fat and heart attacks. Despite that fact, doctors learn that there is. So why does the American Heart Association lie to doctors and the public about the true cause of heart disease? All the way back in the 1950’s, Ancel Keys manipulated and falsified data to blame butter, red meat, and saturated fats for heart disease. The American Heart Association has been misleading us about the cause of heart disease ever since. This indoctrination of physicians, dietitians and the public enabled Big Oil and Big Food to flood the American diet with cheaply produced industrial vegetable and seed oils that alter our body chemistry in unfortunate and unnatural ways. The very diet doctors recommend as healthy is making us sick. Consuming industrial vegetable oils, like corn, canola, cottonseed, soy, sunflower, safflower, rice bran, and grapeseed oils disrupts cellular energy metabolism and leads to toxicity, oxidative stress and disease in the body. Conversely, avoiding newfangled industrial junk oils and replacing them with traditional fats like butter, tallow, olive oil, and coconut oil can help restore metabolic health. This week’s guest is here to set the record straight. Returning to the show today is our friend, the brilliant Cate Shanahan MD, one of the world’s leading authorities on nutrition and human metabolism. A board-certified Family Physician with over 20 years of clinical experience, and NY Times bestselling author, her expertise is fixing the underlying problems that cause metabolic damage and inflammation. In this episode, you’ll discover why doctors working in the insurance-based system no longer have the freedom to do what they think is best for their patients, which oils are most damaging and what to use instead, the undisclosed conflict of interest between the vegetable oil industry and organized medicine, and much more… image #podcast #vegetableoil #realfood #carnivore #v4v #health #medicine #medicalfreedom #grownostr #foodstr #freedom Listen to the full episode on @Fountain:

Happy Independence Day! In the spirit of celebrating the 4th and our freedom in the future, what do you think of censorship? It's a bizarre and uncomfortable feeling when an unelected, self-appointed anonymous party behind the curtain decides what we’re not allowed to say or learn. We live in a world where little people like us are legally responsible for every word we put online. But when our overlords in Big Tech censor potentially life-saving information, should they be held to the same standard? And who exactly decides what's true and what's not? After I was censored and shadowbanned by multiple platforms during the pandemic, a wise friend reminded me that “the closer you are to the truth, the more likely you are to be censored.” When incentives are upside down, Big Tech and the government don't censor lies, they censor the truth… and attack the reputation and livelihoods of those who dare speak it. So if we’re responsible for every word we say online, Big Tech should be held legally accountable for every word they’ve ever censored. Especially when it’s clear that they have been intentionally suppressing honest conversations and critical, true, and timely information that could save lives. The downfalls of our current system are becoming obvious to even those with the most stubborn case of Stockholm Syndrome. So who will hold the Big Tech censors, medical tyrants, half-alive politicians, and pot-bellied, turtlenecked billionaires accountable? And how can we take back responsibility for our own health, well-being and survival? The truth is that it’s on us to build parallel systems as the current medical-industrial complex based on profit, exploitation and upside-down incentives falls apart. There are many reasons to be optimistic for the future. Our guest this week is a visionary building solutions to help reclaim our digital lives from the grip of Big Tech, prioritizing sovereignty, privacy, and freedom for individuals. Today we’re here with Govinda Tidball, a former United Nations Senior Advisor with the World Food Programme and Director of the Ministry of Health in America, an organization committed to re-establishing individual health sovereignty. In this episode, you'll discover why America's medical system is an underperforming outlier with poor outcomes and low life expectancy despite astronomical costs, the promise of Web5 technology, which incorporates decentralization and privacy to combat top-down control, how to incentivize actual health, rather than the current system of running bodies through the medical system for profit, and much more...
