The killer app of nostr is a portable and interoperable identity system. The challenge of getting people to immediately see the value is that it’s not really valuable on your first day. The value of portability increases with usage, when you have more invested.

It is difficult to discern whether an institution is near failure. Institutions, especially mature ones, proceduralize tasks via bureaucratization. Such automated systems can persist for a long time even if the core institution itself is failing.
