We all make mistakes. My biggest mistake in life was listening to my teacher talk about Bitcoin and showing me his mining rigs back in 2013 and thinking it was fake internet money and not taking any action as I was big into Ron Paul, End the Fed, and thinking precious metals was the only way to achieve freedom from government spending and inflation. The way I process my feelings is by telling myself that I love my life just the way it is and wouldn’t change a thing. While this is true, I obviously can’t shake the bad feelings I get from not recognizing the truth about Bitcoin earlier than 2020 when I finally accepted that Bitcoin is here to stay and it’s time to learn. I am ok but still I feel like an idiot from time to time.

I'd like to share a simple life hack that helps me work towards financial independence. Most people are willing to make small purchases without considering the opportunity cost, but I try to be more mindful of my time preference. For example, I've needed a new window air conditioning unit for a while, but I've been okay with waiting for a good deal. Instead of spending hundreds of thousands of sats on a new unit, I've found success by patiently looking for secondhand options. Today, I snagged a well-maintained, 12,000 BTU Energy Star unit for free from a local email list. Over the years, I've saved millions of sats by acquiring gently used items for free by arbitraging other people's desire to declutter. By having a lower time preference and leveraging local generosity, one could potentially save themselves loads of time and money.
