Hey @Dan Wedge we're watching another Christmas movie. If you don't want to know what Christmas in Scotland would be like, I can thoroughly recommend it π

In a previous article, I gave this hypothetical scenario as a metaphor for altcoins and why they are different to the monetary proposition of Bitcoin:
Letβs say that Amazon gift vouchers used their own currency called βAMZβ, so if you wished to buy somebody an Amazon gift voucher you would be buying Amazons native currency.
Now imagine that as Amazon grew as a company the value of that currency increased relative to the USD, EURO or GBP. Speculators would start buying Amazon gift vouchers with no intention of spending them, but simply holding them eventually looking to sell once a certain profit had been reached.
We now have an investment market for something unintended.
But letβs continue that thought experiment.
Now, instead of shopping on Amazon, you spend your money accumulating AMZ tokens. Amazons core business starts to decline and they are forced to shut logistic centres and lay off workers. This creates an unstoppable decline meaning that after a few years, Amazon, despite the huge success of its AMZ token, goes bankrupt.
Now the AMZ token lives without purpose or an end settlement point, it can only be traded peer to peer, or hoarded in hardware wallets.
Does it have utility or value without its founder?
Would the US dollar exist with the US?
I want to continue this thought experiment, but I am unable to as this path has never been explored before.
Iβm not saying I live in a posh area, but canal side littering is at a whole different level π

So we just popped up to the village hall for a Christmas Fayre.
We bought a large bunch of raffle tickets for a chance to win back the tat we donated in the first place.
There was a Christmas market, everybody was wearing Christmas jumpers and brightly dressed, but everybody looked bored.
I went in there full of fun and japery, they didn't know what to make of it. I quipped at every comment.
When somebody was trying to sell me tat I didn't want, I correctly explained, I don't carry cash. They said "Like the Queen", I said "no, I'm not dead π". They didn't laugh.
Another when I was whistling along to "Fairy tale of New York" by the Pogues, said "Chocolate Orange?β. I said "Is that the name of the song?β and laughed. She said "No, would you like to buy one of my chocolate oranges", I said, "Oh, we changed the subject, I didn't know π" She still didn't laugh, I didn't buy an orange.
At a Christmas event in the village, I was the only one visibly having fun.

I recently turned on Brave Browser Adverts. I'm so glad I did, as how else, would I know I need this in my life π

Why doesnβt the government just print money instead of charging taxes?
