I believe few people truly understand what "network effect" means. Yet, it is one of the most important factors behind why Musk didn't adapt Nostr but instead bought a platform with a strong network effect. It's worth studying and understanding Metcalfe's Law because it clearly highlights the factors that determine the value and stability of information and social networks, based on the number of participants (nodes). Nostr presents an opportunity in the realm of social connections comparable to what Bitcoin has already established on the platform of economic independence and freedom. It is likely that Nostr has a similar long journey ahead before it can replace centralized platforms.
