Your Lightning network node contains many secrets that are important to protect. One of them are your revocation keys.
One fundamental vulnerability of the Lightning Network is the possibility of losing or leaking the secret revocation keys. If a malicious actor gains access to the revocation key, they can use it to steal all the funds in the payment channel, making this a highly sensitive secret. Similarly, if a revocation key is lost, it can result in the loss of funds that could have been recovered in case of a revoked transaction.

Coinbase is integrating with the Lightning Network. About time!
Made a neat little website and api library to map out the NodeNor Lightning network community.

#Bitcoin #LightningNetwork protip: if you’re on LND, the channel.db will grow over time. It contains records of all payments both attempted, failed and successful. This can really impact node performance (in addition to storage). LND has APIs that let’s you delete them, but it’s easier to just use bos. `bos clean-failed-payments` and restart your node and you might see a dramatic performance increase.
If you choose to open up a channel to a large node with a ton of exhausted channels (1ML being one example), any payment route involving your node will be negatively impacted, since all of the channels of nodes you have channels with must be evaluated.
Did you know that in the #LightningNetwork the path finding is done by the sender? As a routing node you have no saying in what path a payment takes through the network. However, what channels you choose to open affects the performance of the network in a lot of ways.
Web development is such as shitshow.
You can even receive payments from others through private channels as long as your wallet supports implanting private channel routing information in your payment invoice.
LN Protip: if you’re not trying to be a routing node, consider using private channels in order to preserve balance.
SushiSwap hacked. I’m not sure Dex’es are a terribly good idea. Too complex and vulnerable, yet again showing why Bitcoin’s conservative approach to development is the way to go.
CLN or LND?
Giving a presentation on Lightning Network internals next month. I need a cool t-shirt. Any recommendations?
I love opening Lightning channels with nodes associated with people or companies building exciting services! Any recommendations?
I’m no economist but I have a feeling the Fed doesn’t really know what they’re doing. Way too late with dealing with inflation, and now hiking rates at an unprecedented pace until the system collapses, all while nervously saying “everything is going great!”
At the hospital for the birth of our second child. Buying 2M sats for a wallet going into cold storage for the next 18 years! Wish me luck!
Stay calm. Stack sats.
