Low time preference. Here for the Nostr buildout.
In Chicago, 98% of crime is committed by US citizens, not by illegal immigrants. And 90% of the crime occurs in bad neighborhoods on Chicago’s west and south sides. But they won’t send federal forces to those neighborhoods because the feds don’t know how to deal with gang violence any better than Chicago PD does.
The Trump administration, specifically Pete Hegseth, has already stated they will concentrate their efforts on downtown. Which shows this is only about the political spectacle and not about solving any real problems.
If they really want to arrest illegal immigrants, they should roll up on all of the landscapers in north shore suburbs, like Winnetka, Glencoe, and Lake Forest. But they definitely won’t do that, because those are wealthy Republican areas.
And they can’t arrest the immigrants that mow rich republican’s lawns, babysit rich republican’s kids, and rehab rich republican’s houses.

President is declaring war on my city. So I’m taking off work next week to fight in the streets.

It’s way too easy for presidents to say yes to high risk endeavors like this. That includes both parties.

How a Top Secret SEAL Team 6 Mission Into North Korea Fell Apart
The 2019 operation, greenlit by President Trump, sought a strategic edge. It left unarmed North Koreans dead.
Qi Hong’s projection protest on the eve of China’s military parade (which is being attended by Putin and Kim Jong Un)
I never realized there are people that think about Cracker Barrel.
A secret to life is that you can pretty much ignore 98% of email and text chains. If someone really needs something from you, they’ll either find you or figure it out themselves.
New pet peeve:
One random parent or kids’ sports coach asks if anyone is going to miss a game on a text thread and instead of just letting the “no’s” reply, every single person texts “confirming we will be there”
Anti-woke is the new woke.
Also, if you think Cracker Barrel is peak American culture, I’m sorry for you, you haven’t lived.

Jerome Powell goes “ahem…” and Bitcoin price shoots up by $4,000 in a few minutes.
If that’s not a broken system, I don’t know what is.
Geraint Thomas and Tom Fordyce’s podcast, “Watts Occurring”, is the best cycling podcast out there. Was an amazing inside POV during the Tour - which Geraint rode in (his last TDF). Plus, they’re funny and the banter is great.
Much better than Lance Armstrong’s bullshit on “The Move”
BTW, did you know Lance Armstrong is a supplements sales guy now? And he doesn’t see the irony in it at all. It’s wild.

I’ve been a New York Times subscriber for 20+ years. Despite a noticeable decline in writing quality (which I blame on Gen Z reporters) they still break incredible stories.
However, their coverage of Bitcoin is abysmal and over and over again I have been shadow banned in their comment section for pointing out their errors or critiquing their lack of research. Their main offense is that they conflate Bitcoin with all of crypto, often using the two names interchangeably. (Like most mainstream media does.)
Lately they seem to have banned me from commenting on anything, crypto-related or not.
Rob Copeland, their finance reporter, has particularly bad takes.
Who are the idiots buying ether right now?
Listening to @Troy Cross on WBD. Love the work this guy does for Bitcoin.
