No bank can handle a bank run. I don't know what really starts them, I guess. Confidence? Bank runs in the post-social-media world will spread, well... virally.

Apparently people in China preferred Tether over USDC because of USDC's proximity to US regulations. Just like Russia had their assets sanctioned at the beginning of the conflict, many Chinese worried their USDC could be similarly seized. Even with stablecoins, when there is even a threat that the tool of money can be fashioned into the weapon of sanctions, it becomes less useful as money.

Because of this, basically Coinbase will have to cover the gap between USDC and USD as everyone from EVERY EXCHANGE takes their USDC to BRIAN ARMSTRONG .ETH for a BRAND NEW DOLLAR BILL!

USDC and DAI (once a censorship resistant stablecoin, they add USDC, the founder tweets the pedo CIA is after him, ends up dead, $1.6 Billion USDC ends up getting custodied by Coinbase that week) are both trading between 98 and 99 cents. They may stick around for another day, despite $43 Billion (wow) of cash reserves at Silicon Valley Bank. ...actually if enough people withdraw... Also, according to bankruptcy files, Blockfi has $227 Million of uninsured funds in a money market mutual fund. Bad news for people who listen to What Bitco...
