I build open-source, privacy-focused apps for anyone whose data is not for sale. I use AI tools to write the code, but do not include surveillance or invasive permissions. My apps are designed to work across platforms, making the switch to Linux phones easier when they're more available. (I'm a beginner in this, learning as I go. I'll start with publishing Flutter apps on Codeberg and Zapstore.)
I've got a little time off work. Always a good chance to stop and catch up when life's been spinning too fast. Finishing projects, cleaning up. Feels good.
Something like #Umbrel 2.0 looks so handy for someone in a family or friend group to have, but for privacy and security, any tips on keeping certain things properly separated, potentially on different devices? Things like... - Personal/family cloud storage (pictures, media, recipes, etc.) - Various personal or business websites (anonymous, or maybe not, if for a local business) - Bitcoin node - Git forge - Self-produced music distribution It seems unwise to share IP addresses between such things, or expose too many access points that could be used for hacking in. Some could potentially use Tor, others might not make sense. #asknostr
#Codeberg has changed its terms to disallow vibecoded projects (I don't disagree with their reasoning) and cryptocurrency projects. I think mine fit the description of what won't be allowed, so I probably need to move or at least mirror my repositories somewhere. Mine have a lot of human input and design, but Claude-generated code. Maybe some form of #ngit? Maybe now there is more documentation or tutorials to make it clearer. Self-hosted #Forgejo? Another hosted service people can access? I'm not sure yet.
GrapheneOS' new SMS app is a big improvement. Texts used to take time to come in - I'd hear the notification and wait for the message to show up. Now they show up right away! And it looks way better, too. The notification doesn't disappear when I open a message, but I can swipe it away.
@LWB , I'm trying out LibreNostr, liking it so far. A little thing I noticed - the icon appears shrunken inside a white border like some other apps do on Android/GrapheneOS, but it shows correctly on Zapstore.
