As we close out another #year, it brings the chance to #pause and #reflect on the year that was and look to the #newyear ahead. #resolutions are easy to make and I make point of not making them but I do like to try and make a point of #focus for each year and I find that works. #2026 is coming up fast and I'm feeling that #connection is the area to #focus on. Now some would wonder why when I already know a lot of people but #2025 made me more mindful of the difference between people I know and people I call #friend. #friendship is a beautiful thing and we all need friends. True friends are the ones we don't hesitate to help. We will do it in a heartbeat for them and they would do it for you - not in a transactional way but just because they truly care. They're the ones who you can spend endless hours with and feel #recharged instead of drained. A few months ago one of the neighbours put some frangipani off cuts out on the verge for bulk rubbish collection- me being me saw some potential shade plants and scooped them up and put them in the ground. They were in pretty poor condition and despite being torn out a couple of times by meddling passers-by, they're finally showing signs of life! So as of the 10th of December 2025 Australia made a "law" stating that under 16s couldn't be on certain social media platforms. They did this under the pretence of "protecting kids" but anyone capable of critical thinking knows it's the thin end of the wedge for more and more control for the powers that shouldn't be and less freedom for us. Fortunately despite the wave of boot licking in recent years, the Aussie larrikin spirit lives on and kids are not just working their way around these "laws" but they're finally trolling and roasting the politicians that tried to shut them down. Every time the powers that shouldn't be ban something because they think it will solve a problem, they create black markets and work arounds because in the end, good people break bad laws! Just look at prohibition - it created a massive underworld and the Feds enforcing it killed more people by poisoning alcohol than the alcohol did! This shows a couple of things, government over reach doesn't work and people will find or make a way around it, and government thugs will stop at nothing to enforce their policies.
