He finds a way to get muddier every day. Also really starting to put some size on. We are at a point where we’re going through a lot of feed so I mixed in a bit of corn as a way to keep costs down a little. Will still result in a much better product than anything you can find in the store as they have free reign to forage and root all day. #grownostr #homesteading #carnivore #pigs image
Pigs are becoming quite the escape artists #homesteading #pigs #carnivore #grownostr image
Today we processed 45 chickens and all I have to show is a picture of the coolers…. Once we get going there’s no stopping. Took just short of two hours to harvest. Let them sit in the walk in cooler for most of the day then parted out this evening. Always a good day packing some meat in the freezer. #homesteading #chickens #meat #carnivore #grownostr image
Sheep enjoying the pasture as it’s coming back to life with all the recent rain. #sheep #homesteading #grownostr #livestock image
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner all in one. Blackstones are a carnivores best friend. Ground venison. Sliced venison tenderloin and of course bacon. Eggs came after in the leftover bacon grease. #carnivore #goodmorning #grownostr image
4 days without a sheep out! It’s the little things #homesteading #carnivore #sheep #grownostr
3 weeks to go and the next batch of chickens will be ready! #homesteading #chickens #carnivore image
Cheat meal tonight! Instead of just steak I’ll add some beer here and there. #carnivore #steak #homesteading image
Happy Friday all! Walking the fence line doing some investigative work and enjoying some morning #coffee. #homesteading #grownostr image
She’s the culprit. Thinking twice about our freezer… #carnivore #lamb #sheep #grownostr image
We’ve had sheep out each of the last 3 days. Not sure why they’ve decided to go rogue but seems like we have a problem. I know some would send to the freezer but we don’t have enough for that quite yet. #sheep #livestock #homesteading #grownostr
Finally had two days with some heavy rains. Hoping the pastures aren’t too far gone. With the dry spell we’ll be looking to get the sheep off their current paddock a lot faster than normal. Do not want to overgraze or we won’t get them back here this summer. Until then Bucky is enjoying it. He’s a prick but looks cool and makes nice lambs! #sheep #homesteading #carnivore #farm #grownostr image
Positive evening on the farm. - Raked, loaded, and stored a wagon load of hay - Set up some feed and water for the two freshly hatched chicks in the coop. More on the way! - Pigs seem to be recovering from their mite issue from 2 weeks ago - Sheep are just chilling as always. They really are easy and low maintenance. Despite the lack of rain, we are focusing on making positive strides each day. I’ve definitely jumped head first into the farm this year and it can be overwhelming at times. Trying to simplify my approach and follow a daily Top 3 approach to getting things done. #homesteading #carnivore #livestock #progress #grownostr
It is DRY out here for the end of May. Pasture is brown already and couldn’t tell you the last time we’ve had rain. Very uncharacteristic for PA but hoping we got ahead of it with the extra pasture space that we put in. The second half should be finished soon and there will be a lot of underbrush for the sheep to feast on. #pasture #homesteading #carnivore #livestock #needrain #grownostr image
Had a visitor get into the trash last night. #bear #grownostr
The simplest of carnivore dinners and not pretty but something I could eat for just about every meal. Ground beef, salt, an egg and tiny bit of hot sauce. #foodstr #carnivore #meat #grownostr image
Planning for some cows here. #livestock #carnivore #homesteading #farm #grownostr image
