It’s finally happened. Trump’s business empire is on the verge of total ruin as his decades-long practice of fraudulently inflating his property values led a NY judge to CANCEL the business certificates of the Trump Organization entities.
Kudos to NY Attorney General Letitia James for bringing this all to light and achieving accountability against Trump. He’s a fraud. He’s a rapist. And he’s a clear and present danger to our democracy.
But justice has caught up to him, and it is glorious to see.
Glad to see more Democrats, including fellow NJ Senator Cory Booker and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, join Sen. John Fetterman in calling for Sen. Bob Menendez to step down. Corruption can taint either party, though lately, it falls far more heavily on Republicans. The difference is that when Democratic officials do it, we hold them responsible and help push them out. The GOP….Well, George Santos is still in office, so no.
If the GOP shuts down the government, that means 1.3 million servicemembers will go without pay. This after a Republican senator, Tommy Tuberville, has single-handedly put a hold on all top-level military promotions and appointments because he disagrees with the Pentagon’s policy of reimbursing travel expenses for members who must seek abortions out of state. Remind me again why the GOP thinks it’s pro-military.
We need to acknowledge the hard truth that we are officially in a new era where shots are being called by a small cabal of radicals or even a single obstructionist senator. And, to be frank, that is a dangerous and fundamentally undemocratic thing.
How is it that our democracy can be held hostage by such a small group of extremists? And what, if anything, can be done to limit the damage and prevent such hostage taking in the future?

The Former Guy is out with a rant accusing networks like NBC and MSNBC of “country threatening treason.” And yet the media continues to act like he is some kind of normal candidate, and that there is an equivalence between his 91 criminal counts and 4 indictments and Biden’s age—which is just three years more than his own. It’s time for media to stop making this about a horse race and start making it about our democracy and our civil liberties. /1

Your demands were based on common sense, fairness and decency, and your perseverance in the face of all the stonewalling and gaslighting was admirable and vital. The shutdowns continue with the SAG-AFTRA strike, where I have joined the picket lines myself to show my wholehearted support. /1
Among the big automakers, only Ford so far seems willing to meet autoworkers part-way. An agreement with its Canadian workers on pay raises and benefits, as well as the right to strike over closing plants, is a great sign.
GM and Stellantis, this is why you are still faced with rolling stoppages while Ford is not. Time to sit down to talk, then step up to share the bounty with those who made it possible.
Let’s not forget what Kevin McCarthy and the GOP choose to spend time and resources on this month: a baseless impeachment inquiry against Joe Biden and attacks upon the Justice Department for doing its job.
Instead of passing the budget they already agreed to this spring, they waste time and taxpayer money doing the bidding of extremists within their ranks, all while careening toward yet another government shutdown.
We must vote them out next fall. As many as we possibly can.
When a top ranking official has accepted money or gifts in exchange for influence, that official should resign or be removed. This would apply to Joe Biden, if there were evidence. This should apply to Sen. Menendez. And it should definitely apply to Justice Clarence Thomas.

Trump has attacked Gen. Mark Milley and even called for his execution, if you can believe it.
Gen. Milley is a patriot who served his country honorably, instead of claiming bone spurs.
He’s also likely a witness in the many trials of Trump, including as the alleged author of the top secret Iranian War Plan that Trump waved around to brag to civilians about how special he is. Trump attacks him at his peril, and likely in violation of court orders not to threaten or intimidate witnesses.
