Kyo strikes back! π This is probably the longest changelog I've seen in a very long time!
Could Kyo be the missing uber-framework for #Scala after this release? Let's look at the massive list of new modules π§΅

Developer Ecosystem Survey 2026
Calling all developers, coders, and AI enthusiasts!
π‘ Did you know that every build of the Scala language goes through a Community Build? It's a massive automated pipeline that tests 2327 real-world projects to guarantee ecosystem compatibility π€― #scala
What happens when a project fails? To quote Tomasz Godzik, it usually happens when the project:
π¨ no longer exists
β starts using a newer version (like 3.4+)
π οΈ cannot be tested automatically due to complexity of the build
In such cases, the team checks those failures manually to be sure it's not because of the compiler π
It doesn't matter what we think about Spring, the truth is that it's one of the most successful frameworks and it's currently a synonym for Java development. This documentary gives an insight into its origins and evolution. #java
The aftermovie for Scalar 2026 is online! I hope the talks will be available soon too π€ #scala
Workflow4s v0.6.0 is out π The biggest change is that the library is now effect-agnostic. If you want to learn more about the whole process of getting rid of the baked effect, here is the article π #scala

I've played a bit with Wick, the new type-safe Spark API from Netflix. I've only tried the basics, but if you're a beginner interested in how it works, check out my latest article π #scala #spark

I have a new favourite terminal app that I didn't know I needed π It gives you a fully Vim-motion-driven interface to manage GitHub pull requests. You can inspect diffs, leave comments, manage labels, review, switch from draft to ready-for-review... All the usual stuff, but with an instantly familiar interface! π

An update on GitHub availability
Hereβs what weβve doneβand what weβre still doingβto improve our availability and reliability.
I genuinely disagree with most of the article. Yes, in the default setup, LLMs write poor Scala. But it takes less than an hour to configure them properly - installing Metals MCP, Cellar and a few skills. After that, the generated code is actually really good! #scala

Scalac - Software Development Company - Akka, Kafka, Spark, ZIO
LLMs are mediocre at Scala. If you don't push back, your codebase will be too.
LLMs default to Java idioms in a Scala codebase. The code compiles, passes tests, and quietly degrades your type system. Here's what the data ...

You can't go wrong learning Haskell. Think of it like weightlifting for your brain - tough at first, but it teaches you the core mechanics. If that sounds too heavy, Elm is a fantastic, easier starting point. Unison is a great pick, too! #haskell

Slick, the Future-based database library, will soon get a massive update with version 4! π
It's ditching the Future-only constraint for a new Cats Effect 3 engine, bringing dedicated facades for Future, IO/fs2 and ZIO. All with the same query DSL.
