I’m about 10years behind the times with my Home Assistant tinkering, maybe in another 10years I’ll be tinkering with one of those AI agent server things

Swapped out the s9 in my ventilation system for a NerdQAxe Hydro rev 6. Pretty simple swap, just used the same duct adapters from the s9 either side of the radiator. Now getting the same heat input but over 5x the hash rate

Right, nerdaxeq++ rev6 hydro purchased. Hopefully that sorts out the foibles of the DIY PIV unit making it quieter, a bit less sketchy and way more efficient hash rate wise. Here’s a diagram of how PIV works, I’m just using a miner as the heating element instead of an off the shelf unit that uses a ceramic heater… the idea is to increase ventilation and reduce humidity/damp/mould in my old stone walled house. #heatpunk

GM, been running my miner PIV system for a week now. It’s working well, definitely pushing lower humidity air into the house and making it feel fresher. Whether it fixes the pesky damp patches on the exterior stone walls remains to be seen. The issues I need to fix with it are noise level and efficiency. It’s not gonna be cheap, the best way I can think of is to replace the S9 with 2x NerdQAxe Hydros so I match the current 200w heating output. That should sort the noise and j/th efficiency out. #heatpunks

Does anybody have any experience under clocking ant miners and using a PC power supply instead of the noisy stock PSU? #asknostr #heatpunks

Just hanging a miner from the roof with bungee cords. What’s the worst that could happen? It does damp the sound a bit but thinking I need to get a lower wattage PSU that doesn’t permanently run its fan to make it quieter. #heatpunk

Got my miner PIV system installed today. Currently in MVP test mode with it but getting good results so far. Output is 20C at 35% humidity with the S9 running at 270w. Only bummer is how terrible the s9 efficiency is, still better than using electric to heat for no sats at all! #heatpunks

Testing out the loft PIV system. Good results so far, miner running at 250w, getting a +8C temp boost. Next step is fitting it all together in the loft. (New carpet is lots of steps away sadly)

A belated Happy New Year nostr! I’m starting off the year with a heat punk experiment, attempting a DIY positive input ventilation system with an S9 for heating. If you haven’t heard of PIV systems before, it’s basically a fan blowing air from the loft into the house creating positive pressure. In theory this helps reduce damp issues in old houses by reversing drafts and reducing humidity. The water heating project with the S19 is on the back burner while I find a heating engineer

Been thinking about making a miner positive input ventilation system. My house is an old Welsh farmhouse which costs a fortune to heat and is still damp and cold. Anybody had any experience with PIVs? Do they actually work or just add to your heating/leccy bill?

Trying out some plastering today. Sticking the boards to the wall was the easy bit, skimming it tomorrow is gonna be interesting!

Temperature sensor done. It’s not pretty but it works not bad for about £20. Onward
