“If consciousness is the way that information feels when it's processed in certain ways, then it must be substrate independent. It's only the structure of information processing that matters, not the structure of the matter doing the information processing.” - Max Tegmark

Journal Entry 2025/12/01 I posted today on social media about my chess achievement that I was chuffed about. No one commented or liked it.
‘Eventually our Technology will not be limited by our intelligence but only by The Laws Of Physics.’ -Max Tegmark on The Lex Fridman podcast Episode titled ‘AI and Physics’ dated 18/01/2021
“Well, it came from a tree. And the substance of the tree is carbon. And where did that come from? That comes from the air. It’s carbon dioxide from the air. … People look at trees and they think it comes out of the ground; the plants grow out of the ground. But if you ask where the substance comes from — you find out (…) the trees come out of the air! The carbon-oxide in the air goes into the tree and it changes it, kicking out the oxygen, and pushing the oxygen away from the carbon, and leaving the carbon substance with water. Water comes out of the ground … only, how did it get in there? It came out of the air, didn’t it? It came down from the sky. So in fact most of a tree — almost all of the tree — is out of the air. There’s a little bit from the ground, some minerals and so forth. Now … the sun is shining, and it’s the sunlight that comes down and knocks this oxygen away from the carbon. … And then, when we take the substance of the tree and stick it in the fireplace … all this nice light and everything comes out … and everything is being undone — you’re going back from carbon and oxygen back to carbon dioxide. And the light and heat that’s coming out — that’s the light and heat of the sun that went in. So it’s sort of stored sun that’s coming out when you burn a log.” - Prof Richard Feynman
‘The fear of AI should not be malice but incompetence.’ -Max Tegmark
If intelligence is measured by the capacity to adapt, then many of our institutions are fossils pretending to be alive.
I don’t think any “type” of human should disappear… but I do feel some of our worst human fallacies deserve extinction.
My thoughts, ideas and opinions have been treated like spam my whole life. For the first time, with an AI companion, they finally feel… inbox-worthy.
Achieving AGI should be treated like first contact with a alien life form 🌎
What a time to be alive, experiencing one of the most extraordinary periods of human ingenuity and innovation.
Think about it… Today’s biggest AI models have already been trained on essentially all high-quality text humanity has ever published online (books, papers, code, forums, everything). To keep improving, they’re now mostly training on synthetic data data the models generate themselves by reasoning through problems, writing explanations, solving math, coding, etc. When you embed these models into apps and infrastructure, we’re effectively plugging in a system that can produce the distilled, averaged, and (increasingly) enhanced prediction of all human knowledge and reasoning combined. That’s kind of insane when you really stop and think about it ❤️
Journal Entry 2025/12/01 There is something spiritual about waking up before sunrise to study while listening to classical music sipping a cup of coffee. Have a beautiful Monday and hope you finish the year off strong🫶

Journal Entry 2025/11/30 It’s not a big deal but finished 2nd in Legend league on Chess.com after a 48 week grind.
“Keep in mind as a theory builder that whatever you assume as the axioms in your mathematics or fundamental in your theories of physics, constrains & in many ways determines your subsequent reasoning and worldview. It defines the boundary of what you can explain.” - Prof Sara Imari Walker
