I came across a post from someone I know, showing a document that supposedly required merchants from a major market in Guayaquil—one of the largest cities in Ecuador—to vote for a specific list. It seemed odd to me, so I decided to verify the source. In less than a minute, I found out it was fake news.
I immediately sent the correct information to this person and reminded them of the importance of verifying sources before spreading misinformation. The funniest (and saddest) part? They neither deleted the post nor corrected it.
