In the case of wealth vs time preference I do agree that those who are more wealthy can afford to have higher time preference. It is a percentage of resources needed for immediate physical needs as a function of available resources. For those spending 80-100% percent of thier money on daily needs (food, housing, etc) they have no option at all to wait for that money to sit for any period of time, whereas the cery wealthy can put 98%plus into long term higher yielding investments and choices and not put a dent in living expenses funds.
Spending this morning walking around the local mall for exercise. Had to stop for a minute and think about what we take for granted from an economic, engineering and social standpoint. It's amazing how well it works sometimes. image
Some days are better than others. I know when we use social media and in life we try to pretend it's always great, but I think it's healthy to put forward the ugly side so people don't feel alone when they are down. Today, I'm exhausted fighting the degradation and entropy of the world around me. Some days I take the knowledge there and challenges head on, but some days the scope humbles me.
Remember the reasons we claim for going to war are not or may not be the same reason for the war on the other end. Why can't we address the claims of the foreign powers restored than stand up our own strawman? Whether you agree or disagree with the claims, we must address them as they are whats being sold to the population onthe other side.
Sometime what doesn't happen is as informative as what does happen. When a crime is committed l and nobody is punished, it shows how corrupt the system is. When I was young I was told leaders should hold themselves to a highers standard. Should a judge convict his own son if guilty? Yes, and how much moreso for the leader of a nation.
Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer. Recently I head this podcast asking if a.i. Is is allowed to make derivative works. I should point out that as legal structure exists right now no program is recognized as a person so it's the one running the software that would be liable. I forsee no problem for non commercial or those under the fair use doctrine, but anyone making money could be in for some trouble. If ai is ever granted a modified personhood, such as with corporations, I would just be plagiarism. https://fountain.fm/clip/5VglHK69KZEQRmuxwLp2
Food for thought. Use all the tools available to you, but use them wisely. When your store has a buy one get one sale do you abstain until you filly understand the stores fiscal policy? No you don't, but you also don't plan your 401(k) based on it or move in all your retirement funds to buy that stores stock. Would I use an alt coin for a feature or function it has? Yes, but keep exposure to a bare minimum both in dollar and time terms. I'm writing this out to see how my view change over time. I have learned by leaving altcoins out of the bitcoin world overnight and got burned. Lesson learned and will not do that again, but should I ever need to use it as a pipeline to get things from one place to another, I might use that.
I went to my first in person bitcoin meet-up today. Nice people and interesting to see different perspectives. I wish I could have stayed longer.
I find myself in a pondering mood. Many will be mad but bitcoin itself does not solve all the problems people sat it does. What solves the problems is the secondary economies, the willingness to add value subtract leeches, and stop the division among ourselves. Let's realize that a difference in opinion does not devalue the other person.
I have an experience recently with coinkite.com the services that they offer looked to be very interesting but I find now 20 days after having placed my order and having heard nothing back but promises they a busy but will ship soon that perhaps I should do business with somebody who can deliver in a timely manner.
Today I learned: amethyst nostr client makes custom zap amounts difficult. It seemed you have to set it up, then select it as an option.
Crypto vs Bitcoin: I've noted that some people getting really wound up when you call Bitcoin Crypto. Can anyone explain that to me? Bitcoin is secured by cryptography so it seems to me that it is Crypto, even if a superior form. Why was the label Altcoins not sufficient?
I need a suggestion for good bitcoin podcasts. I seem to have fallen in with people cheer leading btc(which is fine) but I'd like to hear what people are doing with btc. Or even a more technical dive. Ideas? #bitcoin #podcast
