I've been excited about the Lynx R-1 mixed reality headset since I first heard about it, and it just keeps getting better. Open source, and the hardware is as open as they can make it. Much lower latency than others, more brightness, raw access to sensors and frames. They didn't design it to help people with low vision, but check this talk out. Even without specific software this thing is giving people their vision back. Think what it could do with more software features to aid vision. #grownostr #mixedreality #ar # vr #xr

Really enjoying these cheap Xiaomi temperature sensors and Grafana. image This chart shows the temperature inside and outside an incubator. I also have an S9 ASIC in the same room that runs on a schedule. I figured out how to use the state of the S9 smart plug to show when it's turned on and off. It's interesting to see how the ambient temperature rises immediately with the S9 running, and how the cycling of the thermostat becomes less frequent and stops entirely when ambient is near the target temperature. #homeassistant #grafana #grownostr

A Tale of Two Sensors image The yellow line is an Aqara Zigbee sensor with temperature, humidity and pressure. It doesn't update the sensor readings very often. It costs $15 and requires a USB Zigbee adapter for $20-30. Many Zigbee devices also act as repeaters to extend range. [1] The green line is a Xiaomi Bluetooth sensor with temperature and humidity. It costs $6 and requires a $6 ESP32 to bridge bluetooth to HomeAssistant with the ESPHome firmware. You also get an LCD display, battery level, battery voltage and signal strength. [2] So for $3 less you gain high time-resolution sensor readings and an LCD screen showing temperature and humidity. You lose pressure, but pressure will be the same everywhere so it's not necessary to have it in every sensor. The graph comes from Grafana integrated with HomeAssistant. These particular sensors are monitoring an incubator. #homeassistant #grownostr [1] [2]
