Many companies over the years have sent the message that employees and customers are replaceable. Now they act shocked when those people make it clear that the message was heard. The best way to get employees to act like humans who care is to treat them like humans who matter.

My first goal is to avoid being bitten. I've had this trait as long as I can remember. I'd go to people who I viewed as good resources for avoiding a particular bite. The standards for those people have changed over time. When I was a child, it was just older people. I'm more selective now. This method sometimes fails and the bite stings. That sting leads to my second goal, which is to not be bitten again in the same way. It all comes full circle so I can be the resource for someone else looking to avoid that particular bite. Avoid the bite. If you don't, avoid getting the same bite twice. Life is better this way.

I know what's best for everyone, what they should do, and exactly when they should do it. My perspective is the only one. I'll be surprised if anyone responds in disagreement. How could they? After all, I have it all figured out. Who could possibly want or need a different life than me? I'm the authority, right? I've got it. It's just an emotional response and they're wrong. They can't possibly have thought it through diffierently or deeper than ME. There's no way they've experienced things I've never seen before. How could they possibly have knowledge, experience, desires, or needs that differ from mine?! That explains everything. Of course I'm right. What was I thinking?

I can imagine Sam Altman asking for a government bailout at some point. And probably others in that financial circle jerk.

@Laeserin It would be neat UX/UI to have the "Follow" button update to "Muted" with a red color maybe when an npub is muted on the profile page. Fancier would be to have an unmute confirmation popup onclick of the red button. Thanks for your hard work on your Jumble client. It's improved since I last used it. I'm unsure if it's new or not, but the update box at the top of the screen is cool.
