I may be the biggest leftists on NOSTR. Sometimes I'm a little shellfish.
I'm a bit late, but every year I post my top #books of the previous year on Facebook. Since I'm not on Facebook anymore I guess I might as well do it here. My top books are those read by me for the first time regardless of the year they were published. I include one Fiction & Non-Ficiton as well as an audio book of the year. So, without further ado, Neglected Offbeat Prawn's best books of #2024 Best #Non-Fiction - 99: Stories of the Game by Wayne Gretsky [2016] Best #Fiction - Raise the Dawn (DS9-Relaunch #27) by David R. George III [2012] Best #Audiobook - Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton [1990] I have full reviews of these and everything else I've read posted on both my #Bookwyrm and my #LibraryThing accounts. #Bookstr #bookstadon #Book #audible #library #amazon #kindle
The hardest part of the #HeartHealthy regiment my cardiologist has put me on hasn't been the change to a primary #Mediterranean #Diet, the reeducation in sodium to less than 2000mg a day, nor the reduction in calories to less than 1700 a day but limiting liquid intake to no more than 64 FL Oz a day.Apparently my heart meds cause me to retain water. I know people have often complained about how hard it is to drink 8 glasses of water a day, but I've never found that hard, when I realized that she was also including coffee, beer, etc. in my 64 FL Oz, it felt impossible. I've reduced my self down to only one cup of coffee a day (from a max of like 2 and a half pots 20 years ago), changing my water from the giant stadium cup we got from the baseball games to using the small plastic cups my kids have got from restaurants and trying to take my meds with my meal water rather than its own, but I'm still parched and I still find myself putting my head under the sink to get a drink every-time I enter the bathroom. This often includes wandering around the house during my work hours while I'm thinking how to address a given engineering solution.
