The economy is the sum of all the markets. The market is the sum of all voluntary exchanges. Prices are the sum of subjective ordinal rankings.

The problem isn't that people don't understand HOW inflation causes price increases, but WHY inflation causes price increases.

When it comes to how the State and the market perceive one another, there's a sense of opacity in terms of how they see structures. What I mean is that structures that are easy for people to recognize are difficult for the State to, and vice versa. The best example I can think of is the commune vs. private property. From the perspective of those at the bottom, the rules and horizontal structure of the commune are easy to comprehend, but to the State it's too complex, making it more private as well. This is why efforts by the State to favor its own definitions of property through means such as artificial property rights like LLCs, or state-ownership of property. It's much easy to determine things like taxation, surveillance, etc. when clear rules are established to benefit the government. This is exactly what I think Pierre-Joseph Proudhon meant when he said the following: "To be governed is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-ridden, regulated, penned up, indoctrinated, preached at, checked, appraised, seized, censured, commanded, by beings who have neither title, nor knowledge, nor virtue. To be governed is to have every operation, every transaction, every movement noted, registered, counted, rated, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, refused, authorized, indorsed, admonished, prevented, reformed, redressed, corrected." image This very logic applies to the Bitcoin vs. Monero debate. BTC is easier to govern than XMR thanks to the public nature of the blockchain that makes it subject to the artificial property rights created by the State. XMR is not only reclaiming the privacy of transactions, but the complexity of them to the State's POV, bringing back the opacity that existed from cash transactions.

"In any case, a system which springs up spontaneously, under stress of immediate need, will be infinitely preferable to anything invented between four walls by hide-bound theorists sitting on any number of committees."- Peter Kropotkin, ***The Conquest of Bread*** (1907) p. 86. "[I]f plenty for all is to become a reality, this immense capital—cities, houses, pastures, arable lands, factories, highways, education—must cease to be regarded as private property, for the [land] monopolist to dispose of at his pleasure. This rich endowment, painfully won, builded, fashioned, or invented by our ancestors, must become common property, so that the collective interests of men may gain from it the greatest good for all." - Peter Kropotkin, ***The Conquest of Bread*** (1907) p. 24. The problem that arises from dependence on external markets for price signals due to vertical integration is that you will eventually become too disconnected from your own situation.

I never realized how Peter Kropotkin's views were closer to the Austrian school than I thought. In The Conquest of Bread alone, he had: - Called out the land monopoly (p. 24) - Supported voluntary exchange away from the State (p. 46) - Understood dispersed knowledge long before Hayek did! (p. 86) - Supported free trade and free association (all of chapter XI) - Even created a class theory nearly identical to Hoppe's! (p. 267-268) - Overall opposed central planners What are your thoughts? https://files.libcom.org/files/Peter%20Kropotkin%20-%20The%20Conquest%20of%20Bread_0.pdf image

"[T]he most practical method of destatizing is simply to grant the moral right of ownership on the person or group who seizes the property from the State. Of this group, the most morally deserving are the ones who are already using the property but who have no moral complicity in the State’s act of aggression. These people then become the 'homesteaders' of the stolen property and hence the rightful owners." - Murray Rothbard. 1969. "In a nation of hundreds of local industrial economies, with long-distance rail transport much more costly than at present, the natural pattern of industrialization would have been to integrate small-scale power machinery into flexible manufacturing for local markets. Instead, the state artificially aggregated the demand for manufactured goods into a single national market, and artificially lowered the costs of distribution for those serving that market. In so doing, it drastically increased both market areas and predominant firm size. In effect, it created an artificial ecosystem to which large-scale, mass-production industry was best 'adapted.'" - Kevin Carson, ***MOLOCH: Mass-Production Industry as a Statist Construct*** (2009) https://c4ss.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Moloch.pdf #Agorism #Agorist #MarketAnarchy #MarketAnarchism #MarketAnarchist #Libertarian #Antistate #FreeMarket #Anticapitalism #Quotestr
