Private ownership leads to individualism, allowing each person to decide their means and ends for themselves, leading to all sorts of opportunities for them to thrive. Under collectivism, each person's value is determined by if they are productive enough to the collective or not, disregarding the individual altogether. With limits imposed on private ownership, anyone can quickly become a burden to the collective.

It almost feels like a fever dream remembering that I was a Bernie bro when I was younger during the 2016 and 2020 elections. It was only when I started reading Mises and people like him that my political beliefs changed forever. From then on, it became impossible for me to advocate for any of Bernie Sanders' policies or anything even remotely similar. Any argument I tried to formulate just turned to mush the second I thought it out.

True socialism is an impossibility because it requires the very private property it so despises! The only reason that the U.S.S.R was able to last as impressively long as it did was because it depended on prices outside its borders to survive, and even then it still had terrible misallocation and unmet demands.
