In his book *Theory and History*, Ludwig von Mises revealed a flaw that is in many ideas used for interpreting history, such as determinism, materialism, dialectical materialism, behaviorism, and even psychology. What was this very flaw? The fact these aforementioned ideas only looked at the actions without looking at the motives of the actors, treating them like machinery. Mises proposed a solution to this for looking at history: Thymology. This way of thinking prioritized the role of the actors in their time periods rather than the biases of historians.
