"How ironic that monarchism was destroyed by the same social forces that kings had first stimulated and enlisted when they began to exclude competing natural authorities from acting as judges: the envy of the common men against their betters, and the desire of the intellectuals for their allegedly deserved place in society." - Hans-Hermann Hoppe, "Natural Elites, Intellectuals, and the State" (2006), *Mises Institute* https://mises.org/mises-daily/natural-elites-intellectuals-and-state #AnCap #Libertarian #Antistate #Etatism #Ownership #VoluntaryExchange #Aristocracy #Quotestr
In a meritocratic society that is dominated by private ownership and voluntary exchange, there is bound to be a group of people that will rise to power as "natural elites" or a "natural order" due to being very trustworthy, competent, and productive. In contrast, a democratic society where people are elected will often have them without these traits, leading to the detriment of everybody's lives as they are always at risk of expropriation.
The problem with democracy is that it invites both those who are productive and non-productive to participate, and thus anyone who has skin in the game has to bear the responsibility for those who don't. It is the ultimate tragedy of the commons.
"Mathematics has a significance in the natural sciences altogether different from what it has in sociology and economics. This is because physics is able to discover empirically constant relationships, which it describes in its equations...Whatever can be established in this way [for human action] has only historical significance, whereas the ascertainment of the specific gravity of different substances, for example, has universal validity." - Ludwig von Mises, ***Epistemological Problems of Economics*** (2003) p. 128-129 https://library.freecapitalists.org/books/Ludwig%20von%20Mises/epistemological.pdf#page=209 #AustrianEconomics #Praxeology #HumanAction #Mises #Methodology #Mathematics #Epistemology #Quotestr
Equality is intended to be used as a measurement, not a moral standard needing to be met. And even when it is used for measuring, it is unreliable because of the fact that quantitative relationships cannot be shown from purposeful behavior. Equality may sound like a good idea, but it's always important to look at the context first before determining whether it is good or not.
My dad has seriously been deteriorating today. He's been in the hospital all day and will be in it tomorrow as well because of pains in his lower abdomen. It's not known what's causing the pain, but I'm thinking it may be polyps because he has dealt with polyps and had them removed in the past. More updates soon.
"Decentralization, secession, subsidiarity, localism, and nullification are the tools for greater self-determination, and thus greater liberty. These tools, not universalist platitudes, should be the stock in trade of libertarians trying to make the case for a freer world." - Jeff Deist, ***A Strange Liberty: Politics Drops Its Pretenses*** (2023) p. 57 https://cdn.mises.org/a_strange_liberty_0.pdf#page=57 #Agorism #AnCap #Libertarian #Libertarianism #Decentralization #Secession #Antistate #Quotestr
Everything is starting to make sense now. The conflicts abroad; the rising costs in housing, education, and healthcare; the Cantillon effects. The U.S is using the Zwangswirtschaft (compulsory economy) approach to socialism that the Nazis using to take control of the economy. Form your own parallel supply chains.
