Disappointing that Qwen 3.8 2.4T A95B is text-only while Max is multimodal. At 2.4T there’s no reason to use that over Kimi K3.

A basic way that I’ll determine whether to keep using a security-critical product in the future is how often it’s updated. The Coldcard Mk3 hadn’t received any firmware updates in 4 years.

Does GrapheneOS have a duress password that puts it into a fake environment with minimal apps and files? Seems like it could be a good solution to the drive-wiping duress passwords causing legal trouble.

Need some pointers from the Chinese GPU smugglers to help us lowly consumers get GPUs with more than 32GB VRAM.

I wonder if Nostr will get a round of new users with the UK social media ban.

At 45 years old I finally got enough shoulder mobility back to do overhead squats again, which I haven’t been able to do since my 20s. Ankle mobility is still not great so I need to put 10lb plates under my heels, but I’m getting there!

Friendly reminder that when our administrators mention “non-state actors” they mean you (unless you’re a fed).

Curious to see blockchain analytics on any Bitcoin tolls paid to Iran and whether those coins will be successfully tracked through coinjoins.

There it is. The US is pressuring China to stop open sourcing their AI models and in return get some Nvidia chips. The US government wants you to have to rent your AI from centralized, tightly controlled US corporations. Scott Bessent: “The two AI superpowers are going to start talking. We're going to set up a protocol in terms of how do we go forward with best practices for AI to make sure nonstate actors don't get a hold of these models,"

I hope the US delegation gets told to pound sand when it asks the Chinese to stop open sourcing their best AI models during their meeting this week.

Probably either the next or the one after next generation of open source AI models will be the one where the US government tells us we can’t have it. Should be interesting.

I won’t use any OS or app with state-mandated malware for my daily driver. As for websites that don’t work without handshaking with the malware, I’ll do what I can with existing alternatives and maybe have a secondary minimal compliance device like an iPhone for the invasive sites I absolutely need to access.

I’m considering familiarizing with git.idk.i2p since we’re probably going to need an anonymous GitHub in California. Unrestricted 3D printer firmware and Linux without ID verification are couple types of software about to become illegal to share here. 3DP gun files are already illegal to share.
