I’ve thought about this a lot over the last several years. There’s no right answer but multi-institutional custody seems like the best option at this point. When bitcoin gets to 7 figures do you really want to secure it with a plastic device? Is your wife going to be able to transact or recover after you get hit by a bus? How often do you have to update your instructions and where do you put those? I love the idea of having my own keys but unless it’s something you use all the time; when the heat is on, fiddling with usb devices to unlock generational wealth seems like too big of a gamble.
