"There is no second best" is my favorite. Like is BTC so perfect by happenstance that a hard fork with everything identical save for RandomX instead of sha256 mining, or larger block sizes, or tail emission etc. wouldn't instantly be second best by virtue of its similarity?
Likewise the idea that the final and best iteration of a blockchain monetary network would be the first ever iteration of it is nonsense. Especially when this first iteration became ossified in the block size wars and became perpetually handicapped.
It amazes me how Bitcoiners are so proud of Bitcoin's unchanging nature, when its been so obvious to devs even early on that L1 privacy and scalability are major issues that had to be resolved asap. It's clear these so called "Bitcoiners" got orangepilled within the last 5 years at least, buying into the hyperfinancialized, captured version of Bitcoin that Saif and Saylor sell so many on.
These "Bitcoiners" think that repeating these catch phrases while DCAing into a KYCed wallet and sitting on it is doing anything but selfishly damaging Bitcoin's network effect and culture.
I argue constantly with them in vain trying to explain the importance of darknet adoption and parallel economies. These are things that were basically unanimously agreed upon in the early days. Now it's unpopular.
Bit of a rant here but I think this aptly sums up the core cancer of the Bitcoin community and why it's such a shitty network to use as money. I'm nearly out of hope this point considering the most praised members of the community are venture capitalists, fraudsters and bankers. Namely Jack Dorsey, Jack Mallers and Michael Saylor, while the Samorai wallet devs are drowning in debt in federal prison with barely any petition signatures and ostensibly no financial help from bag holders. There are so many whales with millions upon billions of dollars worth of BTC and Keonne and Bill's lives are basically ruined having to come up with a few million and nobody stepped up to help them fight the battle in court or support their families?
It's looking brutal for Bitcoin going forward.

Usage is everything. A decentralized monetary network lives and dies based on its monetary utility.

Excellent post by @Cyph3rp9nk very fair analysis on the main differences between Bitcoin and Monero. I disagree on the hashrate point, hopefully we can come to agreement there. This kind of purely analytical and practical discourse is a huge step for both communities. If the Bitcoin culture shifted en masse in this direction, we would see major Bitcoin improvements in no time. I'm glad to see Cyph3rp9nk leading the charge.
