After almost three weeks and around 950 kilometers cycled across Cuba, I am back home. It was a journey full of intense impressions. I saw breathtakingly beautiful beaches and experienced many special moments. Although it was considered very cold for Cubans, I personally found the temperatures pleasant. In fact, during my stay, 0°C was recorded in Cuba for the first time – an absolute exception for the locals.
Besides the beautiful sides of the country, there were also difficult moments. There was an acute fuel shortage, which had noticeable consequences. In Havana, for example, garbage was sometimes no longer collected regularly. There were also daily power outages and extremely poor internet access, which made many things more complicated.
It was also unfortunate that I couldn’t meet any Bitcoiners. Either I didn’t receive responses to my inquiries, or they were located in parts of the country that I didn’t visit.
Despite all the challenges, it was a very intense and educational trip with many impressions that I will not forget anytime soon.
