Looking back at last season — DNFs at The 508 and Hoodoo 500. The volume was there, but the consistency wasn’t, and it caught up to me. The funny thing is that when I was working through my season, I recognized the lack of consistency, but I was unable to break the cycle. The physical and mental fallout eventually took me off the bike altogether. As rough as it was, it forced a reset I probably needed. A chance to rebuild the habits, the durability, and the mindset that actually carry you through the long days. I may not be lining up for the big ultras this year, but I’m already looking toward 2027 with a clearer head and a better foundation. A better me.

✅ Ride #7. 30‑minute sweet spot today. The rides are stacking again, slow and steady, the way habits reform. Same energy as stacking sats, just with more laundry. 😅

✅ Ride #6. 60 minutes of endurance work. My body is responding well to the training so far, recovery is good, and more importantly, good habits are taking root. Over the past six days, in addition to cycling, I have incorporated activity snacks into my day, and I find that this has helped to exceed 10,000 steps/day. I’m finding that this is helping to restore balance in my routine.

Mt. Laguna Classic, April 23, 2022. Three different loops to the summit, each one meaner than the last. Kitchen Creek’s broken pavement, the quiet miles behind the gate, the wind at the top of Sunrise, and that final Pine Creek wall that makes everyone question their life choices. The scenery is gorgeous, the climbs are relentless, and the mountain always gets the last word. #tbt #cycling #gotlegs image

Has anyone else noticed that the attacks on Bitcoin have ramped up ever since Chuck Norris died? 🤔

✅ Ride #5: 30 minutes of endurance work. Yesterday’s session is settling in well, and the body is cooperating. These small, consistent rides are the foundation for the long miles ahead. #cycling #ultra #rebuild

Ride #4 was a tough indoor workout consisting of 6x2-minutes max-aerobic power repeats. This was the most difficult session since I resumed cycling four days ago. Towards the end of the fifth interval, it feeling a little too intense, my heart rate hit 170bpm, I thought I was done-for, and I faltered with just 15 seconds to go. I stopped pedaling. Fortunately, I quickly regained my spirit and got pedaling again, into the recovery period. Then, the final interval, and I was determined to keep going. Bam! 💥 Finished the session! 🥵🥵🥵 4 rides in 4 days, the chain is unbroken. image

Ride #3 was a short 30-minute recovery spin. It was just enough to keep the legs moving and rebuild my “ride every day” habit. It reminded me of DCA: small, steady accumulation that doesn’t look like much in the moment, but compounds over time. You don’t need fireworks every day, you just need to keep showing up and not break the pattern. Training and stacking both reward consistency more than intensity. And speaking of intensity, big session planned for tomorrow. And I’m looking forward to it. #cycling #training #bitcoin #DCA #HODL
