today went gravesweeping for my great grandmother (1887) which ive never met. During gravesweeping season there are many to go to, but i look forward to this one in particular because the view is great. its an old site overlooking Tamsui River toward the sea that sometimes hard to find because of overgrowth, and alongside 4 decades of wear, has destroyed most of the paths to it. However a unique pair of angels help mark it. There are angels instead of the traditional guardian lions because she became a Christian late in her life. the view has changed a lot and the path up here has gotten harder, but the great weather today make it worth it

today i opened X and saw a post describing that oysters are a sewage filter which i thought was a funny way to describe them, but then it followed with many replies of people declaring they'll never eat an oyster who doesnt like oysters 🤨? surely they're trolling, right? taiwanese cuisine has oyster omelettes (egg, sweet potato + tapioca starch, and oysters), so delicious

it's that time of year again. lantern festival is the 15th day of Spring Festival/Lunar New Year to celebrate the end of festivities another lantern festival tradition we have in taiwan is the "bombing of han dan" in taitung rather than shooting fireworks at the public like in yansui/tainan, this one parades a brave volunteer that is stripped naked into a bunch of fireworks. goggles and a towel for safety 😰 taiwanese people are weird, enjoy some tang yuans 🥳 View quoted note →
