It's fine to try something new, but nostr truly works with outbox. Every user that is active today has an outbox relay and his/her client is only posting there, replies to that user only go to the inbox relay list of that user. Literally every active account that is not a bot or a disposable npub has them. And everything reacts to that record.

I make good arguments against connecting to hundreds of random servers every time I scroll and destroying my feeds. You cannot hand-wave that away. I think _some_ people would like to know why they have to tolerate garbage and spam to see one the possibility of a reply. The thing is, i can live without seeing one persons reply because they use some obscure self hosted outbox relay if it means I retain my privacy. One bad actor out of hundreds can profile people and leak the location information. Or on the security side, communicate in a way that a vulnerable client is latent to. You made the tradeoff decision for people.
I am not handwaving them. I am just saying that there is no way around it since EVERYONE is using outbox relay lists. You can choose to miss it and thats you call, but don't pretend that it is a solution. There is no way to use nostr today without outbox. It's literally everywhere.
