I had actually noticed that "geeks" are not very different from "normies" when it comes down to being completely naïve about everything. This also includes people who make (or read about) obviously impossible claims about some technology or protocol and still believe it very sincerely in their hearts.

Lol remember when google worked with power companies to install Nests across the US. There was a hardware spec. It did not include the microphones in the thermostats. Broke so many state laws but prob Fed, too. Nothing happened and I was SHOCKED.
Confirmation bias, if something fitts in our views (apple is good for example) we easily like to believe and are not questioning.
Ja agreed I find most really smart people are biased towards new tech that "can't fail and fixes everything" type claims
Agreed and never trust. But the fact that apple has a business model that is sustained by selling closed hardware and google has a business model that is mostly distributing free software is worth considering. Neither are to be trusted
