Just to clean the air from where we sit and how we are approaching this. 1. Show will be exactly the same. Free to anyone. V4V. 2. We do not do ads. So there isn’t a different premium version of our show where ads are stripped. That seems to be an approach some use that we find fiat. 3. Subscription model is opt in, again… nothing we are changing about the actual show. Just another payment rail added for someone who wants to give back in other ways. 4. It’s encouraging us to branch off with content. Avi may do something different than I would and have separate topics and avenues that would be premium. Something we wouldn’t have done otherwise and isn’t tied to our main PCR RSS Feed. 5. Trying something out. We have a history of always trying something new. Nostr Nests, Zap.Stream, RSS ~> RSS Blue, Riverside, etc… we like to always be shifting. While this is an interesting avenue it’s not something that will change who we are. We are advocates for V4V because we truly care about the space. We are the very first to be onboarded to the Fountain Premium and we look forward to giving valuable feedback where we can and move the needle where we can. Fountain in general has been good for us. 90% of our listeners are on Fountain team, Oscar and Nick have been very caring along the way. We too are giving them value back via subscription to their service and providing feedback where needed. I would certainly say V4V has room for a hybrid model.

To be fair, I do think Fountain Premium could be really useful for podcasters to have a source of sustainable monthly income. The amount of donations can vary from episode to episode and it's nice to know you have monthly income that you can rely on. The only issue I had with your post was calling it V4V. V4V is putting the content out there (value) and asking people to contribute their value back to you in time, talent, or treasure. Putting content behind a paywall and demanding value upfront (even temporarily) is not V4V. Check out value4value.info for more detail. I think a lot of people on Nostr equate V4V and Zaps/Lighting payments as they same thing, when one is a methodology and the other is just a payment method. People have been doing V4V long before Bitcoin and Lighting even existed.
