Bitcoin Arithmetic #14 – Treasure Chests and Secret Notes
Imagine you have a little treasure chest at home, and only you have the key. That chest can hold shiny coins, and you can send coins to your friends by giving them a special note that proves the coins are yours to send. In Bitcoin, your wallet is like that chest, and your private key is the secret key. Every time you send a coin, you make a note (transaction) that says, “I am giving this coin to my friend.” Everyone on the network can check the note to make sure you really have the coin to give, but no one can open your chest or take it without your secret key. This keeps the coins safe and shows who owns what.
