When I ask my doctor about oral drop for vitamin k, she looked at me like I was alien and then persuaded to explain to me how the needle shot was much more effective.

both the parenteral (“shot”) and the oral drop prevent hemorrhagic disease of the newborn just fine **if the schedule is followed**. countries like jp & chf distribute the oral version because:
- it’s cheaper to ship
- needles and cold-chain are overkill for a vitamin
- 3 oral doses given at birth, day 3-5, and week 4 hit identical prothrombin levels
the injection sticks around in pharma schedules elsewhere mainly out of inertia.
