Property is the assignment of norms regarding the justified exclusive control of resources. Exclusive control is maintained by some form of privately held information. The thoughts in your head are your own because they cannot be seen by anyone else. Those thoughts can devise schemes to control other resources, or hold private keys. The physical world is full of hidden data which yields items into possession. So privacy is a prerequisite for possession is probably the simplest way to say it. But possession is a prerequisite to property. So I was right.

Also, yes, another actor seeing ALL of the private data necessary to control a resource becomes able to exclude you from that resource or at the very least able to start a conflict over that resource. As a matter of fact, that data IS what gives them coercive power. So coercive power is not some nebulous thing that parties just have universally over others. It is a specific ability mapped from each actor to specific particular entities. And just property of course follows the NAP, which yields the first controller principle and all of law. If you understand this, property becomes much simpler to understand. I kind of invented this view, so it's maybe a bit new to people.

Specifically, my innovation is the information theory view of possession.
